LALITPUR: Sujan Limbu netted four goals as Manang Marsyangdi Club thrashed Boys’ Union Club (BUC) 8-0 in the inaugural match at the Nepal Bank Junior (Under-14) League football tournament on Friday. Bishal Rai, Dinesh Karki and Kiran Subba scored one each for MMC, while the other goal came courtesy of an BUC player’s own goal. In other matches, Dev Thapa and Ganesh Khdaka scored one apiece as Brigade Boys Club defeated Sankata Club 2-0 while Three Star Club and Jawalakhel Youth Club played a goalless draw. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Ravi Poudel accumulated 37 stable ford points to take lead on the first day of the Indian Ambassador’s Cup golf tournament here at Royal Nepal Golf Club course on Friday. Played under stable ford full handicap format, HK Singh was two points back at the second position, while RK Pradhan was third on count back after he was tied with MP Rai at 32 points. A total of 20 golfers played on Friday while the remaining 60 amateurs will play on Saturday. — HNS

Accreditations denied
BERLIN: Security officials for next month’s World Cup finals in Germany have rejected 400 accreditation requests, the head of the World Cup’s police deployment working group in Berlin said. Organisers expect to hand out 250,000 accreditations in total. From that number 18,000 are expected to go to media representatives. The rest will go to WC officials, employees and volunteers. — AFP
