KATHMANDU: At least seven climbers including four female members of the ‘LalaMove Virgin Peak Expedition’ scaled Linku Chuli 2 in the Rolwaling Valley making the first-ever successful ascent of the unclimbed peak, according to expedition organiser. Dinesh Tamang, Managing Director at Sherpa Shepherds Pvt Ltd, said that women climbers including Kanchhi maya Tamang (31) from Nepal, Margaritta Lucia Silvestre (30) from Peru, Yin Hung Tsang (43) from China and Ma Soledad Castro Serrano (46) from Mexico stood atop the 6,659-metre peak in the Rolwaling valley at around 10:00 am on October 28. Along with the women team, Nima Gyalzen Sherpa, Mingma Nuru Sherpa and Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa also stood atop the mountain from the North route exploring the new adventure opportunities for the world climbers in Nepal’s Himalayan regions, Tamang said. According to him, the women climbers choose Linku Chuli 2 this autumn to prepare themselves for the upcoming spring expedition. “14 women from 14 countries will begin their expedition in the spring season with an aim to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000 m,” he added. Likewise, International Mountain Guide Pemba Ongchhu Sherpa along with Japanese mountaineer Hiroki Nakayama also scaled Hongu (Sura Peak) in the Mahalangur-Makalu Range becoming the first climbers to stand atop the peak in the eastern Nepal this autumn. According to Mingma Sherpa, Managing Director at Alpine Outdoors and Expedition Guide Pvt Ltd, Pemba Ongchhu and Nakayama climbed 6,764-metre mountain at around 3:15 pm on October 25. The first ascent of different peaks would certainly explore a positive message among the world mountaineers, Sherpa added. Meanwhile, renowned climber Ang Tshering Lama of Angs Himalayan Adventure Pvt. Ltd has already left for western Nepal to attempt to climb Ardang Peak in Humla district, according to the Department of Tourism. Lama is leading a three-member expedition on 6,034-metre peak. Other members of the team include a Canadian couple - Bryce Brown and his wife Sunny Telwaker. Though an attempt to scale the mountain was failed earlier, the climbers aimed to make the first successful ascent of Ardang Peak this season, according to Lama.
