Kathmandu, January 10:

A majority of sub-health posts (SHPs) lack infrastructure, a study says.

Even literate people are unaware of their health needs, it says.

The recent strike launched by over 26,000 paramedics has also questioned the credibility of the SHPs, the study says. The paramedics had been demanding that the SHP not be handed over to the communities.

Lengthy procedures are adopted at the central level for bidding for purchase of drugs and vaccines. Supplies of drugs gets delayed even during outbreaks of diseases, the study says.

The evaluation study looked into three researches that were conducted in different VDCs. The study was made public here today. The researches were not fully successful, especially among backward communities, because of language bias and lack of awareness.
