Prachanda’s stand

Narayangarh: CPN-Maoist chairman Prachada on Tuesday said his party was studying the Lahan incident. Addressing the concluding function of a three-day training for party cadres at Chainpur in Chitwan, he said, “We are studying the Lahan incident and if our cadres are found involved in the incident, the party will take action against them.” He inspected the Maoists’ main camp at Jutpani and returned to Kathmandu on Tuesday. — HNS

Home secy’s decision

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the senior physicians held under the convenorship of secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Umesh Prasad Mainali, on Tuesday decided to make additional arrangements for the treatment of those injured in the Lahan incident. The team, which included Mainali, inspected the Birendra Hospital in Chhauni and enquired about the health of the injured, the Home Ministry stated. — RSS

Exam rescheduled

KATHMANDU: Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation-Nepal has rescheduled the SLC sent-up examination for next week starting January 28. The exam was originally scheduled for January 25, but was postponed due to indefinite strike called by the transport entrepreneurs. — RSS

Two abducted

RAJBIRAJ: A gang kidnapped Kedar Prasad Shrestha of Kalyanpur-3 in Saptari from his house at 3:45 pm on Tuesday. Meanwhile, JTMM (Jwala Singh) cadres abducted Gyanendra Basnet of Beltar-6 in Udayapur, from Kamalpur VDC on Tuesday. — HNS

300 persons fall sick

GAIGHAT: Some 300 persons fell sick after eating the prasad of Saraswati puja at Risku village development committee in Udayapur district on Tuesday. Students, teachers and guardians fell sick after they ate sweets distributed as prasad on the occasion of Saraswati puja in the Janajyoti Primary School at Makure, police inspector at the district police office Ram Prakash Poudel said. Nearly 250 persons were taken to a health post at Katari for primary treatment, police said. They fell sick because of food poisoning, health workers said. — HNS
