KATHMANDU, APRIL 16
The Nepali Embassy in Bangkok has rescued 46 Nepali nationals from Cambodia, all of whom have since returned home.
According to the Embassy, the individuals were rescued after reports emerged that they had been trafficked into Cambodia through various means and subsequently coerced into illegal work.
The rescue operation was carried out in coordination with the Cambodian authorities, following which the victims were repatriated.
The Embassy further stated that 101 Nepalis travelled to Cambodia in 2021; 1,977 in 2022; 2,940 in 2023; 6,404 in 2024; and 9,676 in 2025, largely in pursuit of lucrative employment opportunities.
It has also urged the public to refrain from travelling to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand without obtaining proper labour permits.
