Kathmandu, January 26:

A group of people, sending a joint application to the Narayanhiti royal palace, have urged king Gyanendra to make details of his property public.

Sending the application through postal service today, advocate Hari Bahadur Mainali, engineer Ramesh Bandhu Bhattarai and journalist Rajan Prasad Sharma said the king should make details of his parental property public. “The king’s parental property has become a matter of public concern because it will be nationalised as per the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2007.”

“We will move the Supreme Court to get details of your parental property if you are not ready to make it public,” they warned.

Demanding that the king’s parental property be made public, the applicants also submitted a separate application to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Cabinet. “Article 159 of the Constitution states the king’s property would be nationalised,” they claimed. They also called the PMO to make public the Rayamajhi report within 15 days and prosecute the guilty.
