KATHMANDU, MARCH 22
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index posted a strong gain on Sunday, rising by 54.51 points or 1.81 percent to close at 2,931.55 by the end of trading.
The Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of 'A' class companies, also increased by 2.24 percent, while the Float Index, reflecting actively traded shares, climbed 2.04 percent.
Most sectoral indices ended in positive territory, with the exception of the Trading sector, which recorded a marginal decline of 0.11 percent. The Microfinance sector led the gains with a 4.21 percent rise, followed by Hotels and Tourism (3.05 percent), Non-life Insurance (2.72 percent), Banking (2.49 percent), Development Banks (2.46 percent), Finance (2.13 percent), and Life Insurance (2.00 percent).
Market activity remained robust, with a total turnover of Rs 23.59 billion generated through the trading of 61.40 million shares of 364 companies in 204,955 transactions.
In terms of market breadth, 183 scrips advanced, 73 declined, and eight remained unchanged.
Among individual performers, Bhujung Hydropower Limited, Solu Hydropower Limited, Aviyan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Reliance Spinning Mills Limited, Salapa Bikas Bank Limited, and Corporate Development Bank Limited were among the companies that hit the positive circuit limit of 10 percent during the session.
