KATHMANDU, MARCH 22

Seven individuals have been arrested from different parts of the country in possession of illegal drugs, Nepal Police said on Sunday.

In Kathmandu, police apprehended 28-year-old Chet Bahadur Ramtel of Kamalamai Municipality–4, Sindhuli, from Budhanilkantha Municipality–10 on Saturday afternoon. He was found with 2.36 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin, Rs 77,000 in cash, and a digital weighing scale.

In Sunsari, two individuals-Milan Tamang, 22, of Dharan–15, and Subas Rai, 33, of Arjundhara–10, Jhapa-were arrested from Inaruwa–4 Bus Park on Saturday evening with 3.49 grams of a substance suspected to be brown sugar.

In a separate incident in Dharan–15, police arrested 22-year-old Pawan Sapkota on Saturday night with 305 tablets of Tramadol and 310 tablets of Spaspen.

Similarly, in Jhapa, 51-year-old Santosh Prasai of Birtamod–7 was arrested from a hotel in Birtamod–3 with 440 milligrams of a substance resembling brown heroin and Rs 1,570 in cash.

In Kanchanpur, police detained 36-year-old Dambar Singh Kunwar of Bhimdatta–7 on Saturday evening from Belauri–10 while he was entering Nepal from India on foot. He was found with 2.17 grams of a substance suspected to be brown heroin.

Likewise, in Kailali, 23-year-old Balram Rana of Dhangadhi–10 was arrested from Ghuiyaghat on Saturday evening with 560 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar.

Police said further investigation into all cases is underway.
