Several parts of Nepal are likely to experience rainfall, snowfall, and thunderstorms today under the influence of a western low-pressure system, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in most hilly and mountainous regions of the country. Other areas will see partly cloudy conditions.
The division has forecast moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at a few places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces.
Similarly, moderate rainfall with thunder, lightning, and possible hail is likely at a few places in the hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, while one or two places in the hilly areas of other provinces may also receive rainfall.
Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is also expected at one or two places in the Terai region.
During the night, the Himalayan region will remain generally cloudy, while hilly and Terai regions are expected to see partly cloudy skies.
The division said light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in the Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at isolated places in other Himalayan areas.
Likewise, light rainfall with thunder and lightning is possible at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
In Kathmandu Valley, the weather during the day is expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of light rain and thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is likely to range between 25°C and 27°C, with around a 20 percent chance of rainfall.
At night, skies over the valley will remain partly cloudy, with the minimum temperature expected to range between 10°C and 12°C.
