Kathmandu, July 14:

The US Embassy thrashed SBI Bank 8-1 to qualify for the quarter-finals of the first Independence Day Football Tournament here at the Embassy of India (EoI) grounds on Saturday. Purna Gurung struck a hat-trick, GT Magar added two while Amit KC, Bimal Thapa Magar and Reshav Singh scored apiece for the US Embassy. Roshan Thapa scored a consolation goal for SBI Bank.

Buddha Air, EoI Security Wing, Hotel Radisson and Hyatt Regency have already entered the last eight. Saturday’s other match between EoI Chancery Team ‘A’ and Modern Indian School was postponed for Sunday. Also on Sunday, British Embassy will play EoI Military Wing.
