Indo-Nepal Chess

LALITPUR: The National Sports Council (NSC) treasurer Ajhar Manandhar said the decision to dissolve the Nepal Chess Association (NCA) headed by Sitaram Agrahari was not made by the board but by an individual. Manandhar was speaking during the inauguration of the first Indo-Nepal Friendly Rating Chess Tournament on Sunday. The NSC had recently reformed by NCA by dissolving the committee headed by Agrahari. The opening round of the tournament included International Masters Saptarishi Roy and Roktim Bandhopadhyaya, Shaker Roy, Surbir Lama, Punyaman Karmacharya, Janardan Shrestha, Rajan Chhetri, Manish Hamal, Roshan Kumar Jaiswal and Monilisa Khumbu. — HNS

Basketball tourney

KATHMANDU: Community and Social Service Volunteers is organising the Mohan Pradhan Memorial Under-19 Basketball Tournament on August 14-19 here at the Godavari Alumni Association. In all 12 teams will take part in the tournament with top two teams from each of the four Groups advancing to the quarter-finals.The participating teams include National Integrated College, Nepal Basketball Association, Lincoln, Ace Institute, Orient, RIBS, LRI, Prime, Mangal, Gyanodaya, Rupy’s and Wilson Academy. — HNS
