Body found
SIRAHA: Body of Panchu Lal Mukhiya, 55, of Badharamal VDC-7 of Siraha was found at the bank of Kamala river at Badharmal VDC-7 on Saturday, police said. He was abducted by an unidentified gang on Friday. The body’s initial examination suggested that Mukhiya was strangled to death and was hit by a sharp weapon, Mirchaiya Area Police Office said. Nobody has owned up the killing so far. Meanwhile, locals freed Bishwonath Mandal and Laxman Mandal of Arnamaprara VDC who were abducted by a gang posing itself as the cadres of JTMM-J on Saturday. — HNS
New wheat variety
KATHMANDU: Variety Approval, Release and Registration Sub-committee under the National Seed Board on Thursday released a wheat variety WK 1204, Bhola Man Singh Basnet, the head of the Communication, Publication & Documentation Division of Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) said. The variety was released for the cultivation under irrigated, unirrigated and partially irrigated conditions of Mid- and High-hills, he informed. The variety WK 1204 is high-yielding, non-lodging, resistant to yellow rust disease, easy to thresh, high in protein content and is of good quality , Basnet said. — HNS
Minister’s fears
MADHYAPUR THIMI: Minister of State for Health and Population, Shashi Shrestha, on Saturday expressed fears that the country may hurtle towards the path of division if the CA polls are not held on time.
