Neupane new KDPO head

KATHMANDU:

SP Indra Prasad Neupane has been appointed head of the Kathmandu District Police Office (KDPO), Hanumandhoka, with effect from Monday. SP Neupane was serving at the Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshahpath, for the past two years. He has succeeded Narayan Bastakoti who has been transferred to Police Headquarters. Sources claim Bastakoti was transferred on grounds of unsatisfactory performance. — HNS

Nepali team in Japan

KATHMANDU:

A delegation led by Home Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka reached Kobe, Japan, on Monday to participate in the natural calamity minimisation second world conference organised by the Untied Nations. President of JICA, Sadako Ogata, also met minister Khadka. Talks were held on mutual cooperation with regard to flooding and landslides in Nepal and earthquakes that occur around every 70 years. — RSS

Free abductees: NHRC

KATHMANDU:

The National Human Rights Commission has said its attention has been drawn to the abduction of CDO Birendra Nath Sharma, LDO Sudarshan Prasad Dhakal and National Investigation Department Chief Hira Bahadur Karki of Arghak-hanchi district by the Maoists. The NHRC has stated abducting and keeping people captive is in sharp contrast to the Maoist pl-edge to respect Geneva Convention and has appealed for release of the abducted. — RSS
