Kathmandu, December 5:

Refusing to issue stay order, the Patan Appellate Court has allowed the Department of Labour and Employment Promotion to take action against manpower agents Shiva Bahadur Karki and Dilip Adhikari.

A division bench of justices Ali Akabar Mikarani and Hari Bahadur Basnet declined to issue the stay order sought by them and said that there was no need to intervene the investigation of the department against them.

Based on a complaint of the victims, they have been facing action by the department.

Lawyers Laxman Acharya and Basu Dev Sharma represented the victims and lawyers Indra Prasad Sharma and Bishweswor Prasad Dhakal have pleaded on behalf of the writ petitioners.

Karki and Adhikari have faced a charge of cheating more then three dozen persons by accumulating more than Rs 15 million including from Dhruba Chaulagain. Though they have collected millions of rupees from the candidates they did not send the people for abroad employment.

When the victims gheraoed them demanding to get back the amount and the police had arrested them based on the investigation of the department.
