Hearing postponed

KATHMANDUU: The Supreme Court on Monday postponed the hearing on the case of alleged international serial killer Charles Gurumukh Sobhraj. The hearing could not take place because of the absence of Justice Kalyan Shrestha. Senior-most Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Justice Kalyan Shrestha have been examining Sobhraj’s appeal along with the government’s appeal against the court verdicts, which had given clean chit to Sobhraj in a fake passport possession case. The apex court has scheduled the next hearing for the case on December 28.— HNS

Teenager goes missing

Bara: Chaturi Paswan posing himself as a resident of Bihar has eloped with a teenaged girl of Bara district. Sharmila (name changed), 15, a resident of Gadhal of Bara went missing after Paswan said that he would tie marry his uncle’s son with Sharmila in Birgunj, said Roop Narayan Paswan, coordinator of district chapter of Dalit Network.— HNS

Bandh-free district

DHANKUTA: Dhankuta has been declared as a bandh-free district from Monday. An all-party meeting between the representatives of political parties, civil society, human right activists and various organisations decided to declare Dhankuta as a bandh-free district. The initiatives for the declaration was taken by District Police Office, Dhankuta. — HNS

Rs 5 lakh looted

NEPALGUNJ: Looters made away with Rs 5 lakh of Radheshaym Sharma here on Monday. Sharma had put the money, after withdrawing it from the Nepalgunj branch of Everest Bank, in the side box of his motorbike. He felt unconscious after the incident and could return home only after treatment, police said, adding that a search for the looters was underway.— HNS
