LONDON:
British actress Kate Winslet says her father didn’t like her talking too much on the telephone as a teenager and installed a payphone in their family home. Winslet’s father Roger was protective of his three daughters and in an effort to block their attempts at teenage romance and to save money, he introduced the cost-conscious alternative in the family, reports contactmusic.com.
“My father was so worried about our phone, he kept cutting it off and installed a payphone in our home. Or he would pick up the extension and cut down the line when I was talking to boyfriends,” Winslet said. — HNS
