KHOTANG: At a time when Kirant Janabadi Workers’ Party (KJWP) has been terrorising VDC secretaries in the district with forced donation, the CPN-Maoist, led by Matrika Yadav, has followed suit. The Yadav faction of the former rebels has asked the secretaries to provide with Rs 1 lakh each within a month to the party. The threat of the KJWP has displaced the secretaries to district headquarters Diktel. The latest call for donation has added to their worry, a VDC secretary said. In its written note, the Maoist faction has asked Ram Kumar Pokharel of Kharpa VDC to cough up Rs 80,000 to the party by July 11. Stating that he had been tortured by the order, Pokharel called on the local peace committee, political parties, District Administration Office, human rights body and the police today. Yadav’s party has said the donation amount was Rs 30,000 while Rs 50,000 was the fine for selling land without informing it.Pokharel, a teacher, was displaced during the Maoist insurgency.Pahalman Magar of Kharpa VDC has also been asked to pay Rs 1 lakh.
