Bomb defused close to VP's quarters

KATHMANDU: A joint bomb disposal squad of Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police today defused an improvised explosive device planted close to the residence of Vice President Paramananda Jha in Gaurighat. A bomb of similar intensity went off there yesterday, injuring a woman in the neighbourhood. According to police, the elite squad defused the explosive hidden in a small bag. The security force had cautiously guarded the unexploded bomb strayed yesterday waiting for the disposal squad to arrive at the scene. An armed outfit Kirat Janabadi Workers' Party claimed the responsibility though the security agency is yet to verify the authenticity of the claim. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has condemned the incident 'aimed at creating fear and terror in the society'.
