KATHMANDU, JUNE 16

It is raining outside while I'm writing this! It always amazes me how a person becomes so philosophical when it starts raining. Poets pen down their poignant creation when the rain pitter-patters on their window panes; the gentle tinkle of rain brings the art out in an artist.

Observing the whispering raindrops outside has a calming, soothing and healing impact on our mood.

Rainy days are the perfect time for self-reflection, selfcontemplation and self-examination.

Rain compels us to spend time indoors, giving us an opportunity and possibility to relax and relish whilst playing soothing music and sipping a warm cup of tea. It can be an interesting one if it is taken as an invitation to engage in something. Catching up on a good book, writing stories, cooking healthy food and practising yoga are a few among many.

If we are in the mood, we can express our happiness by dancing in the rain and feeling the cool stuff; like a child. As they say, the child within you never dies. It can just become obedient with time. Indeed, this is so true. Enjoyment is an attitude, not age-dependent. And this is the art of loving rain.

Rain assumes different connotations for different people.

These lovely drops never fail to remind me of my childhood memories, especially floating paper boats in rainwater streams and playing with hailstones.

Similarly, it gives me a bright and beautiful outlook towards life; the way nature looks magnificent and magical after the rains. Moreover, the sprinkling of rain on my face makes me feel young and beautiful.

Rain is life. Rain is love.

Rain is a lesson.

Seasons change, and so do life's stages. Nothing is permanent.

Change is the law of nature.

The only way to survive is to embrace change. Henri Bergson, the famous French philosopher, beautifully quotes, "To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly". In other words, change means transformation; driven by an acknowledged desire to get and grow, followed by critical thinking and sharing knowledge.

Like every person, each season also has something to share. And this magical monsoon is not exceptional. It shares the clear message to slow down for a while; be mindful and enjoy the present moment.

This simple four-letter word, yet a wonderful gift of nature, symbolises hope; the glorious re-birth of spring.

It's not just raining outside, the planet is in the process of re-creating and recharging.

Rain keeps the planet together.

Don't hesitate to appreciate this gorgeous gift of nature.

Wondering in the rain is a wise reflection of well-lived lives.
