The Home Stay Association of Nepal (HOSAN) has announced that it will offer discount packages to tourists on homestay services next year. On the occasion of Visit Nepal Year (VNY) 2020 all the homestay services that are members of HOSAN will provide 20 per cent discount on their services in 2020.

According to HOSAN secretariat, the discount has been offered aiming to make VNY 2020 campaign successful. The offer will be available in both community and private homestay services across the country.

As the government has targeted to bring two million tourists in 2020, HOSAN has aimed to attract more tourists towards homestay services. As per HOSAN, preparations to provide quality services and improve the businesses of homestays are ongoing targeting the VNY 2020 campaign.

Likewise, the association is also preparing to write letters to non-governmental organisations located in different countries requesting them to send tourists from their counties to Nepal. The association will offer discount packages to both domestic and foreign tourists.

Meanwhile, HOSAN announced today that it will organise Pokhara National Home Stay Tourism Festival 2020 in Pokhara next year. As per HOSAN, it will organise the festival in cooperation with Gandaki provincial government, Pokhara Tourism Board and other tourism entrepreneurs.

However, HOSAN is yet to finalise the date for the festival.

In recent years homestay businesses have been flourishing in the country. As homestay provides a homely environment to tourists and gives them an opportunity to experience the lifestyle of villages, homestay businesses, mostly in rural areas are increasing each year.

Currently there are around 1,006 homestay facilities. Of the total number of homestay facilities, 628 are community based homestay services while 378 are private homestay services.
