KATHMANDU, APRIL 14:

The Wildlife Awareness Week commenced today with a series of community-focused programs aimed at promoting wildlife conservation in and around Chitwan National Park.

Organized jointly by the Chitwan National Park and the Buffer Zone Management Committee, the week-long campaign will feature various awareness-raising activities to engage local communities in the protection of wildlife and their habitats.

According to Abinash Thapa Magar, Information Officer at the park, the week began with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the park office. "A range of awareness programs will be conducted over the next seven days to educate communities about the importance of wildlife conservation," he said.

Thapa Magar emphasized the significance of community involvement in conservation efforts. "If we can help communities understand the value of wildlife, conservation will be more effective. It will also help reduce poaching and minimize human-wildlife conflict," he added.

The Wildlife Awareness Week is regarded as an important initiative to strengthen community participation in protecting wildlife, as well as the region's diverse flora and fauna.
