KATHMANDU, APRIL 4

A two-day 14th Convention of the South Asian Federation of AOTS Alumni Societies (SAFAAS) kicked off in Kathmandu on Friday.

Hosted by the Nepal AOTS Alumni Society, the convention is being held under the theme "Collaborative Growth for Sustainable Development: Our Shared Future."

According to a statement issued by AOTS, the event has brought together over 50 delegates from Bangladesh, India, Japan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to promote regional cooperation and advance sustainable partnerships.

Honorable Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari, Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security, attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, MAEDA Toru, along with other distinguished representatives from AOTS alumni societies and Nepalese business organizations, was also present at the event, the statement added.

On the first day of the convention, highlights included a keynote address by Athulla Edirisinghe, Director of JASTECA Trust (Sri Lanka), and special addresses by Muhammad Nurul Islam (Chattagram AOTS, Bangladesh) and Prof. Dinesh Chapagain (Nepal AOTS).

The program also featured discussions on sustainable partnerships, the SAFAAS General Meeting, and the release of the Kathmandu Resolution.

Established in 1991, Nepal AOTS has trained over 1,200 Nepalese in Japan and more than 5,000 domestically, with a focus on quality management and information technology.

As part of a global network of 75 alumni societies across 46 countries, Nepal AOTS remains committed to human resource development and strengthening regional collaboration, the statement further noted.
