48 manpower firms suspended

KATHMANDU: The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) has suspended the online transaction of 48 manpower companies for not updating their company details within the given deadline.

While the department had earlier urged the manpower firms to update the information between May 6 and 12, the deadline was extended till May 17.

A total of 1,527 manpower agencies have been registered at the department, but only 1,272 are in operation.

While a majority of manpower companies provided an update to the department within the given timeframe, the errant 48 firms will no longer be able to conduct any sort of business relating to foreign employment.

The department has till date scrapped the registration of 207 companies for violating the code of conduct.
