New Delhi, November 27:

The US will not make any further concession to kick-start the Doha round of trade talks under the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that broke down over how far rich nations would go to dismantle their huge farm subsidies and open up their markets.

US deputy trade representative Karan Bhatia said that no further concession can be expected from his country to further the WTO talks. “We understand India and its concerns and I am hopeful of successful talks in the next Doha round of trade talks but we will not make any new offers to the developing countries,” Bhatia told mediapersons on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit here. “We do not intend to beat-up the Indian farmers who comprise 60 per cent of the Indian population but we have to look at the future of the Indian economy also,” the official added.
