Airline operators have again increased airfare after Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) hiked the price of aviation turbine fuel for domestic airline companies. Earlier, the airline operators had increased the airfare on March 4.

There is a provision of revising the fuel surcharges based on the price of aviation fuel.

Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has stated that the price hike is effective from tomorrow (Saturday, March 20). Earlier, the Nepal Oil Corporation had decided to increase the price of petroleum products on March 16. In that process, the price of aviation fuel was raised by two rupees per litre.

AOAN Spokesperson Yograj Kandel informed that the price hike is being implemented after taking due approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

The price rise ranges from five rupees to Rs 90, depending on the flight duration.

According to the association, the cost of mountain flight has been increased by Rs 70. Similarly, airfare from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur has been hiked by Rs 60, Kathmandu to Biratnagar by Rs 50, Kathmandu to Janakpur by Rs 25, while airfare from Kathmandu to Bharatpur has been raised by Rs 20.

Likewise, airfare from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Tumlingtar has increased by Rs 30, Rs 40, Rs 65, Rs 90 and Rs 40, respectively.
