Alleged irregularities at GPPL's 'City Centre' parking space
KATHMANDU: The parking space at 'City Centre' in Kamalpokhari is being operated after arbitrarily terminating the agreement with the contract holder company.
The parking space at the 'City Centre' also called 'GPPL Building' jointly owned by Gopalji Properties Pvt Ltd and Nepal Life Insurance Co Ltd was being operated by Grand Multipurpose Pvt Ltd. The company had been managing the parking space since February 28, 2017. The company owner Kush Shakya has alleged that the first Party (GPPL) terminated his contract without any prior notice. He said he was bed-ridden and under medication when all his crew members of parking were forced out of the parking space, on August 2, 2018, and handed over to a new party.
Meanwhile, accountant at GPPL, Vedika Kedia asserted that the contract made with Grand Multipurpose Pvt Ltd was terminated since the latter did not pay monthly dues in time. However, she could not produce any legal notice which she claimed to have sent to the second party, and denied any further comment on the topic.
Parking space manager Shakya said, "Once or twice, I was late in paying rent but then I was charged fine. It is not fair that the first party terminate the contract without issuing any notice." Moreover, Shakya said that in the interval of time he paid a total of additional Rs 1.15 million to the Nepal Life Building head, Dipendra Shrestha, the manager at the 'City Centre', via cheque as rent for the parking space. However, Shrestha has denied the allegation that he received the money.
