Armale festival eyes domestic tourists

Armala Festival-2060 would be organised in the district for three days, beginning from January 25.

In a press meet organised in Pokhara on Thursday, the organisers informed the press that the festival is being organised to conserve the culture of the area and to promote internal tourism.

The Armale village development committee (VDC) borders the Pokhara sub-metropolis. From ancient times, a fair was being organised in the VDC to mark the Shree Panchami.

This year an estimated Rs 0.2 million would

be spent on organising the fair to lure in around 25,000 tourists, informed representatives during the press meet.

A 151-member main organising committee under the coordination of Tej Bahadur Gurung, a nine-member advisory committee and 15 different sub-committees have been formed to make the fair a grand success.

Men and women volleyball tournaments, a free 10-km hilly run, drawing competition and song and dance sequences from renowned artists of Pokhara and documentaries on the traditions of different castes of the area would be screened during the fair. The winners of the competition would be provided with attractive prizes.

The festival is being organised by Armala Development Forum. The Armale village development committee is situated 10-km east of Mahendra Cave and the famous Siddha Moudu Temple is the main attraction of the VDC.

The Annapurna and Machapuchhre peak are clearly visible from the festival site.
