Nanglo Bakeries' "illegal factory" in Sanepa sealed
KATHMANDU: A joint team of the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) and the District Administration Office, Lalitpur, sealed the Nanglo Bakeries Pvt. Ltd.'s factory in Sanepa after finding out that it was being run without taking permission from the authorities.
What is more, lab reports showed that the cake samples collected from the factory were unhygienic and inedible, according to the DFTQC.
The DFTQC swung into action after receiving complaint that cake bought from The New Bakery Café in New Baneshwar caused a consumer to vomit. Since The New Bakery Café was buying cake and pastry products from the Nanglo Bakeries Pvt Ltd., the DFTQC inspected the latter's factory.
Though the bakery café claimed that it was sending back the unsold products to the producer every day, the DFTQC said, it failed to show any record.
According to the DFTQC, the Nanglo Bakeries Pvt. Ltd, which had acquired permission to run a factory in Thaiba only was illegally running the factory in Sanepa also.
