Baglung bitter on sugar note
BAGLUNG: A sugar supply problem has emerged in Baglung district just around the beginning of festivals this year. The problem arose when the integration of price between Salt Trading Corporation and local traders could not rerach a conclusion. STC provides sugar at Rs 56 per kilogramme whereas local traders are selling at Rs 62 to Rs 66 per. Local traders have been selling goods in the district ignoring the notice of the district administration office to display the price list to customers. Baglung Chamber of Commerce and Industries chairman Dhurbaraj Gautam said traders are selling sugar on the basis of market competition.
However, assistant CDO of Baglung Dolraj Dhakal said the variation in price was due to the quality of the sugar. He added that traders should sell only after price fixation. Chairman of Consumers Rights Protection Forum Shailandra Kumar Shrestha blamed administration.
