Birgunj market re-opens
BIRGUNJ: Markets and businesses in Birgunj, closed since three days opened this morning.
It was closed since Thursday evening to protest the killing of Rajeshwar Dube, a staff at Pashupati Transport at Adarshanagar. Dube was shot dead by an unidentified gang that evening. The local business community agreed to open the market after a request by an all-party meeting yesterday.
It also agreed to withdraw all its protest programmes including market shutdown after the local administration expressed commitment at the meeting to arrest the murderers and provide appropriate compensation to Dube's family. Meanwhile, the police has made an arrest in connection with Dube's murder.
