Indian labour deluge

PARSA: Over 10,000 Indian labourers have been working in Birgunj-Pathalaiya industrial corridor. The number of Indian labourers has been increasing due to their readiness for low salaries, no demand for permanency and no threat of union formation. Bipin Thakur of the Labour Office said industries have not taken prior permission as per the clause 4 of the Labour Act-2048 BS wherein they should take prior permission from the Labour Department if they hire foreign workers for their factories. Meanwhile, industrialists said they have been forced to hire Indians because of Nepalis’ reluctance to work in risky sectors.
