UWIP holds seminar

BHARATPUR: Underground Water Irrigation Project (UWIP), Bharatpur organised a seminar to implement the underground shallow tube-well irrigation programme in the district. The seminar was organised with an objective of enhancing coordination among various stakeholders including financial institutions, department of agriculture, department of irrigation and Nepal Electricity Authority, from the centre to district level. — RSS

RNAC board meeting

KATHMANDU: Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNAC) held an interaction with its board members and senior officials. Govinda Prasad Pandey, secretary at the ministry and chairman of RNAC, directed the officials to work in coordinated way to boost up image of the national flag carrier and promote tourism. Mohan Khanal, general manager of RNAC pointed out the current problem of RNAC that is lacking aircrafts.— HNS

Banana farming

CHITWAN: Farmers in eastern Chitwan are cultivating bananas at commercial scale to uplift their economic condition. According to a report, around two hundred farmers in Chitwan district have been producing a total of 3,500 tonnes of bananas worth about Rs 45 million in 250 bighas of land. A Gorkhali Banana Group has been generating an annual income of Rs 0.78 million from banana farming. — RSS
