Urge to call off bandh

KATHMANDU: Nepal Tea Federation (NTF) has urged All Nepal Tea Labourers’ Association, to withdraw bandh programmes in all tea estates of Jhapa and Ilam. In a statement, the federation said that tea estates have already hit by inflation for the past 3-4 years. The bandh programme for an indefinite period has further pushed the tea industry on the verge of collapse, which has been providing jobs to 30,000 people. — HNS

Strike withdrawn

BIRGUNJ: Vendors and Fruit Traders’ Association has called of strike programme. Earlier, the association had called a strike for indefinite period to protest against the Birgunj Municipality’s negligence to manage the vegetable markets. The new development followed after an understanding was reached between the concerned parties. — RSS

SCT holds workshop

KATHMANDU: Smart Choice Technology (SCT) and representatives of its member banks as well as 400 participants took part in a workshop on the acceptance of SCT debit cards on the point of sales (PoS) on Wednesday. The main objective of the workshop was to inform the use of SCT debit cards on PoS without any extra charges, states a press release. — HNS
