Cargo day on July 29

Kathmandu: Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) has said that the association is celebrating Cargo Day on the occasion of 10 years of its establishment. Cargo Day is being celebrated in order to explore business activities related to freight forwarding and resolve problems of the sector, informed concerned authorities while talking about the progress the sector has made. They also shed light on the export situation through the eyes of the cargo handlers by simplifying procedures. — HNS

EMPL turns two

KATHMANDU: Everest Med Pvt Ltd (EMPL), the sole manufacturer of sterile hypodermic disposable syringes in Nepal, has completed first year of its operations. Sanjay Jain, director of EMPL, said, “the company has been able to receive ISO 9001:2000 certification.” It has also set up distribution network all over the country and started exporting to neighbouring Indian states. EMPL’s Lifeline is available in 1ml, 3ml, 5ml and 10ml ranges. It plans to make itself as a complete house of medical disposables in a near future. — HNS

‘Reopen tea estates’

BHADRAPUR: The central committee of Nepal Independent Tea Labourers’ Union has issued a statement demanding the tea estates in Jhapa and Ilam to reopen and reach a negotiation through talks. 21 tea estates in both districts were shut down at the call of labourers’ union associated to the Maoists. — RSS
