New development plan
KATHMANDU: Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Programme (TRPAP) organised a sharing and discussion programme on the draft documents of Participatory District Tourism Development and Management Plan on Tuesday. Developed with technical and financial support of TRPAP, the plan is to be implemented in Chitwan and Rupandehi. A team led by Dipendra Purush Dhakal, former tourism secretary has come up with indicative tourism plans

Malaysian envoy feted
KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) hosted a reception in honour of the newly-appointed Malaysian ambassador to Nepal Mahinder Singh, today. The NCC officials urged the envoy to take initiative to promote bilateral trade, tourism and investment between Nepal and Malaysia. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, NCC president, said that dual tax system should be abolished to narrow down the bilateral trade deficit. He also asked to simplify visa regulations for Nepali businessmen visiting Malaysia. — HNS
Coffee export catches on
LAMJUNG: Three tonnes of coffee have been exported from Lamjung district last year. According to Coffee Entrepreneurs’ Association, Lamjung, seven pulpier machines have been installed in different coffee producing areas of the district. It was informed at the five-day trainers’ training programme recently organised by Lamjung District Development Committee, World Vision Nepal and Lamjung Industry and Commerce Association. — RSS
Telecom service to resume
BANKE: Telephone service is to resume in Jumla, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Accham, Rukkum and Rolpa districts. Telephone services have been blocked in the districts after Maoists destroyed repeater towers located at Ratamata of Rolpa, Bhartalagna of Kalikot, Saphebagar of Accham,
Maithapla of Jumla and Chimralek about three years ago. Limited telephone services are available at district headquarters . — RSS
