Korean traders on visit

KATHMANDU: A delegation of South Korean businessmen led by Kyu On Sul, first secretary of the South Korean embassy in Kathmandu, visited Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) on Saturday. Welcoming the team, Yubak Rajbhandari, president of BCCI, informed initiatives of the BCCI in socio-economic development. Sul said that the industrial revolution in Korea in the last decade has led the country to the world map of economic power. Song Yong Hung, chief of NAMNAM, a Korean business enterprise, said that his group is keen to expand business relations with Nepali firms and enterprises. — HNS

Training on NTF ends

BHAKTAPUR: A five-day long training on non-timber forest (NTF) products in community forests, identification of herbs, conservation and their utilisation concluded here on Saturday, under the joint auspices of Jalpadevi community forest users group, Telkot and Bhaktapur district forest office. 30 members of different community forest users groups of the district participated in the training. Former DDC chairman Surendra Pratap Shah gave away certificates to the trainees. — RSS

Private airlines to take off

BEIJING: China’s fledgling private-run airline industry could take off in the first half of this year, using busy holiday travel seasons to launch their services. The first group of private airlines could begin services in the next few months, for example during the week-long May Day public holiday. New rules prepared by the civil aviation authorities that took effect last week have set the bar low for new entrants into the industry, allowing anyone with three airplanes to run airline services. — AFP

Indian exports increase

NEW DELHI: India’s manufacturing industry is experiencing higher export growth, with motor vehicles, colour televisions, plastics and auto components driving ‘excellent’ results, according to a survey. While 18 sectors showed ‘excellent’ exports growth, 16 registered ‘high’ and 10

‘moderate’ growth. Plastics, auto components, ball and roller bearings, fluid power, diesel engines, industrial furnace, sugar machinery, cars, colour TV, light commercial vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles, mopeds, motorcycles, utility vehicles, scooters, electrical fans, drugs and pharmaceuticals were the sectors that showed excellent growth. — HNS
