Illegal eggs seized

MAHOTTARI:

Livestock quarantine check-post, Vittamod on Monday arrested low-quality eggs worth Rs 20,000 while they were being imported into Nepal in illegal ways. The eggs were being brought in to Nepal in a bus (Ja 1 Kha 337). The eggs were destroyed at the presence of customs officials, security representatives and journalists. —RSS

1,474 micro-hydel units

KATHMANDU:

A total of 1,474 micro hydel projects were built so far in the rural areas which are still not connected to the central grid. They generate 7,998.32 KW electricity. The number of beneficiaries from these projects stands at 425,000. More than 6,000 rivers and stream in the hilly regions can be tapped to meet electricity demand.— RSS

B’desh food stocks drop

Rice prices in Bangladesh are likely to rise further as the government has no substantial stock to check market rates. The rice stock in the government’s warehouses is only about 450,000 tonnes. — HNS
