Scooty’s new strategy
KATHMANDU: In the process of creating the scooterette category, TVS Motos has sold one million pieces of Scooty in India. Launched in 1994, Scooty Pep, primarily manufactured for women riders, had a modest sale of 2000 pieces a month, but soon reached 20,000 pieces per month, states a press release issued today. Intelligent marketing and brand awareness established the brand as a front-runner in the Indian market, which have been implemented successfully in Nepal as well. — HNS
Training concludes
PYUTHAN: A three-month long training on repair and maintenance of radio and television concluded here recently under the auspices of cottage and small industries development board, Pyuthan branch office. 13 persons from Rolpa, Rukum, Pyuthan and Salyan took part in the training. — RSS
Action against retailers
LALITPUR. A market monitoring team from the cottage and small industry office Lalitpur led by Min Prasad Gyawali, chief industrial officer, has taken action against various shops for selling sugar at inflated prices. The team in the course of monitoring at Jawalakhel, Gabaha, Ghapagal and Purnachandi areas found the shopkeepers cheating the customers. The team also included Harihar Dahal, administrative officer of the district administration office. — RSS

PARBAT: Income of the dalit community of Balakot VDC has increased after they started buffalo and goat farming. The dalit community started income generation programme with a loan from village development programme. — RSS
