FM’s promise

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said on Sunday that the government will give top priority to creating more employment opportunities. “If a large segment of productive forces continues to remain jobless, the dream of turning the economy around will not be achieved,” he said adding that the new budget will aim at bringing new programmes to generate enough job opportunities. Inaugurating the first national conference of Federation of National Industry and Trade in the capital, Dr Bhattarai also appreciated the response to the Youth Self-Employment Programme. Till date, 5,02,000 unemployed youths have applied under the YSEP. — HNS

Biz team in Norway

KATHMANDU: A five-member team from the private sector led by FNCCI president Kush Kumar Joshi left for Norway on Saturday. The delegation includes coordinator of Hydropower Development Forum Gyanendralal Pradhan, Himalayan Bank’s chairman Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, Global Bank’s chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal and chairman of NRN Association Upendra Mahato. It , along with the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will woo Norwegian and Finnish investors. — RSS
