Workers’ election
KATHMANDU: The fourth annual general meeting of Nepal Tourism, Hotel, Casino and Restaurant Worker’s Union (NTHCRWU) elected 21 central committee executives under the presidency of Khem Raj Khadka on Wednesday. five vice-presidents, Rajesh Karki, Indra Bahadur Oli, Ram Chandra Pandey, Bipin Shah and Chandrika Shrestha were elected. Uttam Kumar Gautam was elected general secretary and Devi Bhusal and Rajendra KC vice-general secretaries while Rajendra Khadka and Kamal Kumar Bista were elected treasurer and vice-treasure, respectively. — HNS
HAN demand
KATHMANDU: Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) on Friday submitted a memorandum to Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Hisila Yami about problems created in the hotel sector due to load shedding, frequent strikes and bandhs and insecurity. HAN has asked for electricity for at least 12 hours, discount in demand charge and Rs 10 subsidy in per litre of diesel. — HNS
ALIC’s new branch
KATHMANDU: Asian Life Insurance Company has started its 17th branch at Lahan. According to a press statement, the company already has 16 established branch offices and eleven customer care offices. — HNS
Envoy-Joshi meet
KATHMANDU: Durga Prasad Bhattarai, Nepal’s ambassador to Sri Lanka Durga Prasad Bhattarai in a meeting with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) president Kush Kumar Joshi discussed the financial improvements required in the industrial and business sectors of Nepal and Sri Lanka. The talk focused on the development of Free Trade Agreement and well-timed identification of economic prospects of both countries. — HNS
FCAN protest phase
KATHMANDU: Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) on Friday announced its second phase of protest programmes. FCAN has been protesting against the government decision to provide Rs 60 lakh to the consumer committee for construction work, according to an FCAN statement. — HNS
NLICL rights shares
KATHMANDU: The Ninth AGM of Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd has decided to distribute rights share in the ratio of 4:1. According to a press statement, the company till March 13 has earned insurance charge of Rs 4.15 billion along with the sale of insurance policy equivalent to Rs 2 lakh. —HNS
