Rice yield better

LAHAN: Siraha witnessed a rise in rice production this year due to timely rainfall. According to the District Agricultural Development Office, per hectare 3.2 metric tonnes of rice was produced this year as again 2.9 metric tonnes per hectare last year. Some 69,000 hectares of land is utilised for paddy farming in the district. Of the total farmers in the district, 75 per cent are engaged in paddy farming. However, despite irrigation facility rice production in the northern belt of the district declined compared to last year. — RSS

Veggie sale up

BABIYACHAUR: Vegetables worth Rs over 10 million were exported from Dhairing VDC of Myagdi during the last one year, said Dhairing vegetables and seeds production group chairman Ek Narayan Poudel. The produce was exported to district headquarters Beni, Kushma, Baglung and Pokhara. Over 60 farmers in the district are engaged in vegetable farming. — RSS
