New RBB chairman
KATHMANDU: Krishna Hari Baskota, secretary (revenue), took charge as chairman of Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) board from Wednesday. On the occasion, RBB CEO Janardhan Acharya expressed pleasure over Baskota’s appointment and hoped his rich experience as a senior official at the ministry would be useful to the bank that is slowly making a comeback from its past. — HNS
NIC Bank gives bonus
KATHMANDU: NIC Bank approved 20 per cent bonus shares and 1.0526 per cent cash dividend in its 11th AGM on Wednesday in Biratnagar. The meeting was chaired by bank’s chairman Jagdish Prasad Agrawal. It posted a net profit of Rs 243 million in 2007-08 which is 53 per cent more than last year. Rajendra Aryal and Birendra Kumar Sanghai were reelected directors from the public shareholders for another term. — HNS
ALIC in Pokhara
KATHMANDU: Asian Life Insurance Company (ALIC) inaugurated its 15th branch at Pokhara. According to a press statement, the company has made a collection of Rs 181.9 million insurance charges. The company has nine communication offices. — HNS
Revenue collection up
CHAUTARA: Mangsir saw a nearly 150 per cent rise in revenue collection at Tatopani customs as compared to last year. Office chief Chudamani Devkota said Rs 766.889 million was collected in the first five months of this fiscal. The target this year is Rs 1784.826 million. — RSS
