Mushroom farming

MYAGDI: Farmers in Myagdi district are commercially growing mushrooms. It has started in Singha, Arthunge, Pulachaur and Takam VDCs as an experiment. Horticulture officer Bed Prasad Poudel at the District Agriculture Development Office said the programme succeeded with the harvest of 400 plants. Farmers are drawn towards commercial production after the experiment’s success. At least 30 farmers in the district have started growing mushrooms commercially using local and improved species. Import of mushroom into the district has gone down after home production. — RSS
