KATHMANDU: Yeti Airlines is launching a campaign to lend a helping hand to clean up ‘Lukla’, the gateway to the world’s highest peak Mt Everest, this spring as part of its continuing Corporate Social Responsibility activities. “The Khumbu region receives a large number of trekkers every year. Lukla is the starting point for their trek to the Everest region. As the number of trekkers to Lukla show a healthy increase every year, it is imperative that waste created by such activity be managed in a proper and timely manner. To lessen environmental impact Yeti Airlines has decided to start cleaning campaign,” states a press release. — HNS
NRN’s help for Dolma
KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has established ‘Save Dolma Sherpa Fund’. The fund is established with an initiative of NRNA Women’s Forum with Usha Sharma and Tenzi Sherpa as joint coordinators. The association appeals to the Nepalis living across the globe to contribute to the fund. The association’s national coordination councils are requested to coordinate the fund raising activities in the respective countries. — HNS
NCL holds AGM
KATHMANDU: Nepal Cooperatives Ltd (NCL) held its 12th annual general meeting (AGM) at Pokhara. Inaugurating the AGM, the chairperson and former minister Uttam Pun said that NCL has to diversify its lending portfolio to earn maximum profits. The cooperatives is going to establish a medical college in near future. Similarly, it has collected Rs 155.5 million deposits and lent Rs 149 million. — HNS
Fire at Jumbo
KATHMANDU: Jumbo Electronics Pvt Ltd, in New Road, has caught fire on Monday morning. “Due to the fire, around Rs 20 million worth washing machines, fridge, 127 units of Television sets and many computers were destroyed, states a press release. — HNS
