The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu hosted a reception on Tuesday evening to commemorate the 85th National Day of Pakistan at Hotel Soaltee.
Vice President of Nepal Dr. Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav attended the event as the Chief Guest. The reception was also attended by Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai, Bishnu Rimal, Chief Advisor to PM KP Sharma Oli, Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, and former Deputy Prime Minister CP Mainali.
A large number of dignitaries, including senior political, civic, and business leaders, ambassadors, diplomats, members of the Pakistani community, journalists, and civil society representatives were in attendance. A photo exhibition titled "A Glance at Pakistan" showcased the country's cultural and geographical diversity.
In his address, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, highlighted the historical significance of Pakistan Day and paid tribute to the nation's founding leaders. He emphasized Pakistan's commitment to international cooperation and underlined the long-standing ties between Pakistan and Nepal, according to the press release issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.
"Pakistan and Nepal have enjoyed cordial relations and developed strong bonds," he said, elaborating that Pakistan and Nepal share a unique tapestry from geography to civilizational linkages, from peaks of Himalayas to rich heritage, and cultural similarities unite the two peoples together. He also expressed hope for continued collaboration in sectors such as education, health, defense, climate change, and disaster management, the release further stated.
The event also featured musical performances by the Nepal Army Band, playing national anthems and traditional Pakistani songs.
