FNCCI AGM in March
KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) is holding its 42nd AGM on March 26 in Kathmandu. The 16th meeting of FNCCI executive committee on Sunday decided to hold the AGM and elect a new executive committee for the next term. FNCCI has asked the government to immediately solve crisis emerged after long hours of load shedding, Tarai unrest, scarcity of petroleum products and labour unrest. Similarly, incumbent president Chandi Raj Dhakal has declared his candidacy for the second term also, while Kush Kumar Joshi, second vice-president has also announced his candidacy for the top post of the umbrella body of Nepali private sector. — HNS
Nepal-Sino trade fair
KATHMANDU: Nepal China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCCI) has decided to organise industrial and trade fair one each in Lhasa and Kathmandu in 2008 to promote bilateral trade and tourism. The ninth AGM of NCCCI held recently also decided to ask the government to assign honorary consul general in Chengdu and Guangzhou to promote bilateral trade and economic activities. NCCCI has also decided to ask to initiate various measures to promote bilateral trade, investment and tourism as well as people to people relations. — HNS
Rajbhandari dies
KATHMANDU: Gopal Raj Bhandari, philanthropist and the founder of Mercantile Group, passed away at Gleneagles Hospital in Singapore on February 17, at the age of 87. He had been battling cancer for the last eight months. He is survived by his wife, three sons and four grand children. Rajbhandari founded Nepal’s first internet service provider Mercantile. He had donated six million rupees for 20 beds at Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre and funded various equipment worth Rs 50 million. — HNS
