New branch of BOK
KATHMANDU: Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has opened its 12th branch in Lalitpur, Jawalakhel and started operations beginning November 8, says a press statement. The branch would serve people surrounding Patan Industrial Estate and southern part of the Kathmandu valley. Services such as deposits, lending, letter of credit and remittances services are being carried out from the branch, says the release. Alok Singh, board member of the bank, inaugurated the branch. The bank, in the fiscal year 2005-06, has registered a net profit of Rs 204 million, says the statement. — HNS

KATHMANDU: German citizen Gerhard Baker has handed over financial assistance worth Rs 25,000 to the community health service council (Paropakar Swastha Sewa) located in Dallu Residential Area at a function. The amount has being used in developing sustainable source of income for the organisation in order to run it. Baker has also been providing medicines and treatment equipment with help from various German organisations, according to the council. — RSS
