Resource export ban

GAIGHAT: Kirant Janabadi Workers Party (KJWP) has halted the export of natural resources from Udaypur including other Kirant state-declared areas. It has warned people not to export any sort of natural resources from any part now on citing rampant smuggling of timbers, sand and pebbles being exported from the district. The party has claimed that natural resources in the district including other Kirant state-declared belong where they are found. None has the right to export natural resources to other places without permission, the party said.

Trade fair concludes

SANKHUWASABHA: The three-day Chainpur Mahotsav concluded, issuing an eight-point declaration. The fair was organised to promote trade and tourism of Sankhuwasabha. Cultural pageants and stalls of agricultural products were the main attraction. The declaration demands the overall development of Chainpur area as a tourism destination. It also demands construction of a hospital, water project and blacktopping of Tumlingtar Airport, among other things.

'Fishy' deals

KAPILVASTU: Chandrauta Bazaar, one of the biggest trading centres in Kapilvastu district, has now turned into a hub for trade in fish and fish products. Traders earn enough money for the whole year by trading in fish just four months in winter. Chandrauta supplies fish to nearby Arghakhanchi and as far as Rolpa and Rukum.
