KATHMANDU, MAY 29

The Council of Ministers is meeting this afternoon to approve the government's budget for the fiscal year 2082/83, ahead of its presentation in the federal parliament.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is scheduled to present the estimated revenue and expenditure for the new fiscal year at a joint session of the federal parliament at 3:00 pm today, as per Article 119 of the Constitution.

Ahead of the joint session, the House of Representatives will meet at 1:30 pm, where Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire will read out a communication received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers regarding the government's work plan. Finance Minister Paudel will also table the Economic Survey for 2082/83 during the session.

Parliament Secretariat has requested all lawmakers to be seated in the House of Representatives chamber by 2:45 pm for the joint session.

Earlier in the day, a meeting of the National Planning Commission will also be held under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Similarly, the National Assembly is scheduled to meet at 1:45 pm, where the Finance Minister is expected to present the Economic Survey.
