CAN Federation announces CommTech for Sept 14-17

Kathmandu, August 22

The CAN Federation is set to host the second edition of the CAN CommTech — an information, communication and technology exhibition — from September 14 at Bhrikutimandap, in Kathmandu.

Organising a press conference today, officials of CAN Federation said the four-day event is being organised with an objective to promote use of technology in Nepal, discuss with the government and other stakeholders on the legal strategy that the country needs to adopt to promote the use of technology and roll out the latest technological innovations in the country.

As per CAN Federation, the event will host different stalls of IT service providers, telecommunication companies, electronic security and safety solution providers, power solution providers, hardware sales and maintenance service providers, mobile accessories and products, internet service providers, ICT colleges and institutions and  payment solution providers, among others.

Officials of CAN Federation informed that the exhibition this year will have altogether 87 stalls and almost all stalls have been booked so far.

“Use of technology in Nepal is still low as compared to other nations which is why there is an urgency to promote its use in the country. CAN Federation has been organising ICT events round the year with the sole objective to increase people’s access to technology as only increased use of technology can transform the nation,” said Binod Dhakal, president of CAN Federation.

Informing that the CAN Federation has been promoting the concept of e-Nepal, Dhakal said that it can be achieved only by increasing people’s access to technology.

The event will also include various discussions, seminars and presentations of the current state of ICT sector in Nepal, challenges and the way forward, as per CAN Federation.

Meanwhile, organisers have said that Subisu has been selected as the title sponsor of the event. Organisers have expected around 200,000 IT enthusiasts to visit the event this year as IT awareness and its use has been increasing in the country in recent years.
